- ➤ Two individuals (27-year-old Taneka Desha Felder and 40-year-old Gustavo Morales Aguilar) pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle over 25 pounds of fentanyl after traveling to Mexico last December to load ten bundles in a hidden compartment; they will remain in custody until their sentencing hearing. - ➤ Laredo police arrested 48-year-old Sergio Hernandez-Sanchez Monday night, March 31 after officers responded to a security call near 1301 Farragut St in the El Metro area and linked him to four vehicle break-ins at a nearby Webb County parking lot—he admitted to the break-ins and was charged with vehicle burglary and theft. - ➤ U.S. Border Patrol agents in Laredo stopped 11 people who were allegedly trying to enter the U.S. through a drainpipe near the Rio Grande + agents arrested the group after hearing voices from a tunnel, and local officials noted that similar methods have been used by smugglers for years. - ➤ On March 29 at 8:40 p.m., Laredo Border Patrol agents stopped a blue tractor trailer at the primary inspection lane of the Interstate 35 Checkpoint and used a service dog to locate 51 packages containing nearly 130 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of over $4 million— the driver and drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. - ➤ United I.S.D. opened online registration for the 2025—2026 school year today so parents can register their children using the Skyward portal, a process that takes about 15 minutes.
