- ➤ McKendrick Ochoa Salinas Library celebrated Library Workers Day on April 8 as part of National Library Week with planned events for all ages. The library holds a Spring Book Club—every Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.—and Story Time on Thursdays, and it will host a Young Entrepreneurship Workshop Friday, April 12. KGNS News
- ➤ Laredo College Car Show will return on Saturday, April 12 at LC South Campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature hot rods, tuners, supercars, and a kite festival starting at noon—an event that is free for everyone. LaredoBuzz

- ➤ Families in Laredo shared their stories during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week — relatives of those killed by Juan David Ortiz and Ronald Anthony Burgos expressed that victims are not alone, and a candlelight vigil is set for tomorrow at Lake Casa Blanca at 6:30 p.m. KGNS News
- ➤ Laredo police confirmed that gunshots were fired during a neighborhood fight yesterday on the 3500 block of Sinaloa Drive, arresting 21-year-old Enrique Antonio Diaz and 20-year-old Jacob Velasquez while recovering spent shell casings and seizing two firearms and additional ammunition from a residence on the 2000 block of East Price Street. - ➤ A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and critically injuring her mother and brother may face trial this summer after police complete their investigation as District Attorney Isidro Alaniz said 27-year-old Fernando Machado (accused) could have his first arraignment in August or September. - ➤ At a City Council meeting on April 7, Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino and council members discussed how tariffs might hurt an early May bond vote after over $100,000 was spent on preparations. Webb County Elections Administrator Jose Castillo said canceling the vote could still be possible if no ballots have been cast — while city lawyers say postponement is not allowed and residents are split on the tax impact. - ➤ Today the city council voted 7-2 to approve an easement that lets the State of Texas build a border barrier under the Colombia International Bridge—this decision came after a closed meeting with debates over high costs, estimated at $25 million to $27 million per mile, and alternative immigration reform solutions. Some members noted that the new easement includes language protecting the city's future land use. KGNS News

- ➤ On April 8, the Laredo Public Health Department declared Parkinson’s Awareness Month to help local residents learn about symptoms & community services as officials met and noted that about 20,000 people in Laredo and Webb County live with the disease. A support group that started with four members will host a symposium Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. KGNS News
- ➤ Laredo families affected by Parkinson’s get help from a local group started by Tina Trevino in honor of her late husband after seeing a need for support. The group will hold a symposium (Saturday, April 12, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) at Laredo Rehabilitation Hospital to offer guidance since there is no cure for the disease. KGNS News
