- ➤ WBCA explained that a safety shutdown on Tuesday left carnival riders suspended on a ride in Laredo, and technicians quickly secured the area. KGNS News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Laredo College has received a $2.2 million grant from the Texas Comptroller’s Office to launch a fiber optic technician program that will train 150 students for broadband careers. The college will purchase equipment and set up the program in the fall + meeting the growing need for skilled technicians. KGNS News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Bruni Plaza Branch Library at 1120 San Bernardo will adjust its hours for the Youth and Grand Parades, closing early at 4 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 19) and remaining closed on Saturday, Feb. 21, with normal hours resuming on Monday. KGNS News
- ➤ Laredo police have announced safety measures for WBCA parades, enforcing parking restrictions along San Bernardo Avenue and prohibiting standing near emergency exits. Officials advise parade attendees to plan ahead when choosing viewing spots. KGNS News
- ➤ On Feb. 17, the Laredo City Council unanimously named a walking trail at Independence Park after Moises Jaimes — who died when struck by a stray bullet on New Year's Eve — as his daughter stressed the dedication will honor his memory and raise community awareness. KGNS News
