On March 15, a shooting at the Cheyenne Subdivision left one woman dead and three others in critical condition—Laredo Police said 27-year-old Fernando Machado, armed with a high-caliber assault rifle and a prior criminal record, was charged with murder and aggravated assaults and is recovering in a San Antonio hospital.

U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar announced $3 million in federal funding for Gateway Community Health Center on Monday, March 17—CEO Elmo Lopez said the funds will improve medical access at 11 centers including the new West Laredo location and that centers in Rio Bravo, El Cenizo and the Mines Rd area will open soon.

The Laredo Health Department will host a free Introduction to Breathing and Meditation session on March 20th (10:00 AM to 11:30 AM) to teach breathing techniques that reduce stress and improve focus.
