A Laredo farmer donated crops to local nonprofits to feed community members before his death in May 2025; his sons and grandchildren now carry on his farming tradition (his wife Angela Flores recalled he was always busy working to help others).
The Laredo Animal Protective Society is hosting free Easter Bunny pet photos this weekend, March 28-29, at two Petco locations in San Bernardo and Monarch — pet owners are encouraged to donate needed pet food and litter at the stores.

A train blocked westbound traffic near 1400 Jefferson St. in the Jefferson/Santa Rita area on Monday, Mar.
23 — officials advised drivers to take alternate routes as delays were reported.
🏛️ Government
Webb County’s Community Action Agency announced that 80 utility assistance applications for low-income residents will be available in April at five community centers; applicants must provide current light bills, immigration documents, and proof of 30 days income.
Webb County commissioners discussed expanding Narcan dispenser locations on March 23, proposing placements at the public health department, jail and community agency facility (to improve access in rural areas).
