- ➤ City of Laredo Animal Care Services featured two animals on KGNS Pet of the Week this week. The kitten Pepper needs a foster home since he is only a week and a half old while the playful Labrador mix Angel is ready for adoption and the shelter asks for food, blankets and toy donations and can be reached at 5202 Maher Avenue Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. or by calling (956) 625-1860. - ➤ A march honoring civil rights leader César Chávez will take place in downtown Laredo on Saturday, March 29. The event will start at 10 a.m. at Bruni Plaza and end at San Agustín Plaza with Victor Treviño Jr. speaking (organizers invite all residents to attend). KGNS News
- ➤ The Inaugural Bad Golf Classic will be held Saturday, May 31 at Casa Blanca Golf Course with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and a $140 entry fee for individuals or three-man scramble teams (including a Tiger Woods drive, two free putts, and two mulligans). Proceeds will benefit local veterans through Intrepid Care while sponsorships from $150 to $3,500 are being sought. KGNS News

- ➤ A 20-year-old man linked to the Cartel del Noreste pleaded guilty to smuggling ammunition after 4,800 rounds were found during a July traffic stop and will serve 63 months in federal prison—he will face deportation immediately after his sentence. KGNS News

- ➤ The Laredo International Fair and Exposition is accepting scholarship applications from high school seniors active in 4-H and agriculture programs with applications due by March 31 at noon. The board offers the L.I.F.E. Scholastic Scholarship and the Roel Gonzalez Memorial Award Scholarship and aims to exceed last year's more than $80,000 in awards. KGNS News
