- ➤ A Mexican national was arrested in Laredo on April 4th when a DPS trooper stopped his silver 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche for a traffic violation and found 15 plastic-wrapped bundles containing over $205,000 worth of cocaine and black tar heroin hidden under a floorboard compartment—he now faces charges of felony possession of a controlled substance. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Laredo clarified that its bond election will proceed as planned on May 3 — ballots have already been mailed despite public confusion over Webb County Elections Administrator Jose Luis Castillo's comments. The statement explained that Texas law allows cancellation only in very limited cases and confirmed that this municipal vote cannot be canceled. KGNS News
- ➤ The Webb County Sheriff’s Office honored 9-1-1 dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week for their fast work in emergency calls.
