  • Your Good Neighbor Station, United, and Laredo ISD are hosting a Prom Dress Drive so high school students can receive donated dresses before prom night. Community members can contribute now to help each student feel confident as the school year ends.  KGNS News

  • Cosmetologist Chris Hernandez from The Vanity Bar appeared on Friday’s Ellie-Vated Conversations & discussed local beauty trends, balancing motherhood with running her business in Laredo.  KGNS News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Alexander High School's student-led reading club partnered with retired educators to donate over 400 books to local elementary schools, boosting literacy efforts in the community. The club plans to expand its outreach to underfunded schools in Nuevo Laredo & improve access to reading resources.  KGNS News
  • The TAMIU Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium reopened on Friday, Apr. 10 thanks to a $250,000 gift from philanthropists Sonia and Guillermo (Memo) Benavides, which created the new Sonia and Memo Benavides Immersive Theatre.   • A nurse in the TAMIU Family Nurse Practitioner program completed an accelerated Dual Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training on April 10 and earned her OAG Certified SANE certification, with guidance from mentor Jonathan Martínez Calderón and support from local partners.  Texas A&M International University
