COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Laredo Fire Department invites neighbors to free coffee and conversation at the Starbucks on 2200 East Saunders today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., where firefighters, paramedics & Sparky the Fire Dog will share safety tips and answer questions.  KGNS News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Laredo police are investigating a crash that happened Monday, April 21st just before 2 p.m. near Rudy’s on McPherson Road where two vehicles collided and one rolled over — it is not yet clear if anyone was hurt.  KGNS News
  • A 16-year-old was hospitalized with smoke inhalation and a small burn on his left leg after a grass fire broke out Saturday in the Green Ranch area on Mustang Island Drive — four other teens were treated on-site and the cause is under investigation.  KGNS News
  • Two teenagers were injured when an ATV crashed into a pole on Jacobita Road in Rio Bravo on April 19 — one boy broke his leg and was airlifted to a hospital in Laredo while the other was taken by ambulance to Laredo Medical Center.  KGNS News

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday, April 20, Laredo police sought public help in finding two men linked to an aggravated robbery on the 3100 block of Milk Street— anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 727-TIPS.  KGNS News

CULTURE NEWS

  • On April 21, dozens of Laredo residents attended a Mass of Resurrection at San Agustin Cathedral to honor Pope Francis—who was praised for his support of humane treatment for migrants—while local clergy reflected on his lasting legacy.  KGNS News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local founder Jacob LeBrun started the Laredo Student Assistance Fund and held a fundraiser on April 19 to help high school graduates pay for college—students with a 3.5 GPA or higher can apply until June 20.  KGNS News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the City of Laredo thanked the Chamber of Commerce for endorsing the 2025 Bond Referendum and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility. City Manager Joe Neeb said the new measures—including a Quarterly Bond Dashboard, defined project timelines, phased borrowing, and community oversight—will keep voters informed and ensure responsible project implementation.  LaredoBuzz
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Laredo discovered over 260 pounds of prohibited pork hidden in a truck at Bridge Two — over 200 pounds of chorizo, sausage and other products — and imposed a $1,000 fine while confiscating the vehicle.  KGNS News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The City of Laredo Tennis Complex at TAMIU will host the United Independent School District 30-6A District Tennis Tournament on Friday and Saturday, April 25-26. Schools including Alexander, Del Rio, Eagle Pass, LBJ, Medina Valley, United South, and United High are scheduled to play and the public may attend for free viewing—courts will be closed for regular reservations during the event.  Texas A&M International University
