Washington Middle School celebrated its 30th anniversary this week with a special ceremony at the school where educators, students, and community members gathered to honor decades of education in Laredo.

Ricardo Quijano presented five candidate buildings (including a former funeral home at 4200 Thomas Avenue) at the Veterans Affairs Committee meeting on May 12.

The group will request a mayor meeting and seek funding to develop a centralized veterans resource center.

A Laredo family is confined indoors after bee attacks from a nearby beehive in the Indian Sunset area near Mines Road, and city officials are working with property owners & planning cleanup and fumigation to address health concerns.

After a weekend that dropped them to 9-12, Tecos de los Dos Laredos played Tuesday, May 12 against Algodoneros del Unión Laguna and will play again today at 9:30 p.m. and Thursday, May 14 at 9:30 p.m. on South Texas Sports Channel 10.2.
