Chef Anthony Jones volunteered at the Salvation Army community kitchen on Wednesday by preparing a fresh Fagioli soup for about 70 to 80 clients as part of their feeding program; he plans to return soon to share his culinary skills with the community.

Laredo health officials reactivated a physician recruitment committee (approved by city leadership) to address the doctor shortage.

The panel will review recruiting strategies and propose changes to strengthen local healthcare.

LAPS will host an adoption event at PetSmart (on International Boulevard) Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. All adoptable animals will be vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped and dewormed.
