ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Laredo Police are still investigating a serious two-vehicle crash over the weekend that left an 81-year-old man in critical condition while they gather evidence to see if speed— and loss of control by a 19-year-old driver— played a role.  KGNS News

CRIME NEWS

  • Border Patrol agents and Bexar County deputies served four arrest warrants and two search warrants before arresting two Venezuelan men linked to gang Tren de Aragua in a human smuggling case in Laredo — law enforcement officials say removing dangerous individuals from the streets.  KGNS News
  • On May 27, a 42-year-old man named David Salazar was arrested near the 300 block of Travis and Springfield Street in Laredo — deputies said he had heroin and assaulted a deputy while refusing to identify himself, and his charges are pending further investigation.  KGNS News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jacob Rodriguez, a 16-year-old from Nixon High, earned a 2025 Ford Escape for perfect attendance at the Drive Sames For Education giveaway held on May 27. Laredo Federal Credit Union covered the fees + the event recognized 13 Laredo ISD students who maintained perfect attendance.  KGNS News
  • Laredo ISD will offer a free summer school program starting May 29th for elementary, middle and high school students to help them get ahead next school year. Food, transportation and fun activities are included—parents must visit their child's campus to register.  KGNS News
  • Alexander High School celebrated its 30th anniversary on Monday with a ceremony honoring four original staff members known as the 'Original Bulldogs' (a custodian, a secretary, and two teacher-coaches) whose decades of service built a strong community bond at the school.  KGNS News
  • Laredo ISD is celebrating graduation week with over 1,400 students earning their diplomas as Early College students received theirs on Monday and Martin and Nixon High School held ceremonies on Tuesday — Cigarroa High School will wrap up the celebrations later with all events streamed on YouTube.  KGNS News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Retired teacher and breast cancer survivor Maria Laura Nanez leads Relay for Life in Laredo to raise funds for cancer research+ she also coordinates the Laredo Wears Pink fundraiser in October, urging the community to support efforts against cancer.  KGNS News
