This weekend, community members in Laredo came together to help over 80 veterans load groceries during a joint event by Webb County 4-H and Volunteers Serving the Need—an action that underscored local support for our veterans.

The effort highlighted the town’s strong commitment to community service.

Two Laredo women advanced in the Miss Universe Latina reality show that debuted on June 3—where 30 contestants from Latin America competed in various categories—and both represent Mexico.

Leaders, community members and city officials from Laredo and Nuevo Laredo met at UT Health Science Center in Laredo as part of the Binational Air Coalition event—residents shared concerns and ideas to improve air quality and plan for future changes.

A similar meeting was held later in Nuevo Laredo to expand the discussion and explore joint solutions.

City officials announced that an $11.3 million project to repair old water pipes will begin next Monday, June 16th, in areas where pipes have broken over 200 times and lost more than 17 million gallons of water—officials say interruptions will last only a few hours.

The repair work is expected to finish by October.

TxDOT is inviting Laredo residents to attend a public meeting on Mines Rd. to review project plans — the meeting will offer details on proposed improvements and a chance for public input.

Texas A&M International University will host its first Dustdevil Baseball Prospect Camp at Jorge Haynes Field on Tuesday, June 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—the camp, open to players aged 15 to 25, will lead to a second session scheduled for August.
