A 23-year-old Laredo man pleaded guilty to smuggling undocumented immigrants after a police chase and was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release; he remains in custody pending transfer.

Laredo College will hold a warehouse sale tomorrow from 8 a.m. to noon at the Carlos de Llano warehouse (Fort McIntosh campus), featuring furniture and items from the former home of ex-mayor J.C.

The Bridge Academy at UISD is helping former students aged 18 to 26 earn high school diplomas and is signing up students for classes that will start on August 13 at the Laredo College South Campus.

The program—a partnership with Laredo College and Workforce Solutions of South Texas—offers a flexible schedule with morning or afternoon sessions to accommodate work and family needs.
