- ➤ The City of Laredo unveiled three new souvenir penny machines to honor its rich local history and allow both residents and visitors to take home a piece of the city's past. They are located at the Laredo Offices on 101 Salinas Avenue & Republic of the Rio Grande Museum on 1005 Zaragoza Street & Laredo International Airport on 5210 Bob Bullock Loop. KGNS News

- ➤ A Nixon High graduate has been accepted to the U.S. Naval Academy — he will soon start training to become a naval officer. KGNS News
- ➤ UISD is hiring part-time tutors and caregivers for its free Texas ACE After School Program that runs from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.—positions support feeder schools for LBJ and United South. Interested applicants can apply online or call for more details. KGNS News
- ➤ Laredo ISD announced on June 25 that all employees will receive pay raises effective July 1—raising starting teacher salaries to $54,000 and adding extra for experienced teachers and hourly staff. United ISD also approved increases for full-time teachers and other personnel—with a one-time incentive for administrators aimed at boosting recruitment and retention. KGNS News

- ➤ El Cenizo officials said they paused the police department because new state rules require a separate building and six full-time officers, and the move is temporary. The Webb County Sheriff’s Office will cover 911 calls — and officials said the pause will be lifted once the city meets the new requirements — to keep residents safe. KGNS News

- ➤ The Laredo Public Health Department partnered with South Texas Workforce Solutions on June 25th to host its ‘Trim the Stigma’ event featuring free screenings + health checks and free haircuts from Immaculate Cut Barber Institute. Attendees visited a small job fair + resume review booth aimed at reducing the stigma around men’s mental health. KGNS News

- ➤ Kiwi, this week’s Pet of the Week at the Laredo Animal Protective Society, is a two-year-old dog looking for a forever home. The shelter said she is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention and is available for adoption from Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2500 Gonzalez Street.
