CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities conducted an apparent immigration raid at a warehouse construction site near Interstate 35 on June 26th, which forced people to run across the highway—witnesses said they saw confusion at the scene.  KGNS News

  • The Laredo Theater Guild International will open School of Rock: The Musical from July 10–20 at the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center at Laredo College, showcasing an all-Laredo cast led by director Celia Hernandez. The production promises a fun, family-friendly show and the team is finalizing details—local talent rehearses for the summer run.  KGNS News

  • TAMIU will offer *Bright Start* classes this Fall beginning at 7 and 8:30 a.m. to help students balance work and family time, and *Night Start* will add evening classes at 7:35 and 9:10 p.m. to expand course options.  Texas A&M International University
  • Students in the TAMIU TRiO STEM program are getting summer internships & grad study opportunities this season.   • Texas A&M International University interim president Juan J. Castillo thanked lawmakers for approving record funding that raised net General Revenue to $77.7 million with an $8.8 million boost and $3 million for new Civil Engineering and Computer Science programs—funding driven by strong enrollment and credit hour growth before today.   • Today, Laredo city leaders met with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives to launch planning for a $20 million federally funded water infrastructure project secured in December last year.
