  • On July 4, local residents in Laredo marched four miles during the Freedom Ruck March to honor fallen service members—uniting neighbors in a heartfelt tribute.  KGNS News

CRIME NEWS

  • Melanie Ashley Villarreal, already serving two 10-year sentences for fentanyl and cocaine possession, will appear in court on July 9 at 9 a.m. in the 111th District Court for Webb County’s first fentanyl—related murder indictment linked to Juan Miguel Esquivel’s death on September 15, 2023.  KGNS News
  • A man who pleaded guilty to a 2022 armed robbery—he was arrested as a 17-year-old following an anonymous tip on October 12—will be sentenced Monday, July 7 at 9 a.m. in the 111th District Court.  KGNS News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TxDOT will close the intersection of Havana Dr and Loop 20 on Monday, July 7 for an underground water main installation in north Laredo. Drivers must detour via Backwoods Trail — Shiloh Dr before the road reopens on July 17.  KGNS News
  • The City of Laredo plans to begin the 42″ Gravity Interceptor Wastewater Project on July 7 along Mercer Street—near Daiches Elementary School. Residents near Tapeyste Ave and N. Buena Vista Ave should prepare for traffic delays, increased noise and brief sewer service interruptions during work scheduled Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  KGNS News
  • TRLA will host an expunction clinic for residents with criminal records to help clear their records—offering Laredo residents a chance to address legal challenges.  KGNS News
