  • Noodles and Blossom are two five-month-old Chihuahua mix puppies at Laredo Animal Protective Society looking for a new home together. They are microchipped, spayed or neutered—have received their shots, flea medicine, and heartworm protection—and can be adopted for $140 each at 2500 Gonzales Street during shelter hours from Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  KGNS News
  • Laredo College invites community members to attend the 2nd Annual Flamenco Fest — a showcase of Spanish music and dance — that will be held on campus.  KGNS News

  • Sames Auto celebrated 115 years in Laredo on July 10, marking its anniversary with an event that showcased its legacy and plans for future innovation + a commitment to growth.  KGNS News
  • Eduardo Medina, owner of On the Rocks Tavern, said downtown challenges include criminal activity and strict city rules — he has tried to share these concerns with the Historic Committee but met a lack of quorum.  KGNS News

CRIME NEWS

  • On July 9, Laredo Police Compliance Response Team arrested 50-year-old Jennie Del Carmen Lara at a residence on Hawk Dr.—she is accused of removing six teeth without a client's consent and practicing dentistry without a license for multiple patients.  KGNS News
  • Nearly two weeks after a home shooting at the 500 block of Las Misiones in East Laredo, Webb County Attorney Marco Montemayor said that a 16-year-old teen, who is in custody, will be charged as an adult after a background check showed he shot another teen in the back—his certification case is set for later this month.  KGNS News

  • Local women are invited to a financial literacy and budgeting workshop that will cover debt management, budgeting, and credit scores. The event will be held on July 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at MileOne, 1312 Houston St.—Linda Cuellar will lead the session with a networking luncheon to follow.  KGNS News

  • Operation Border Health has been postponed indefinitely after officials announced staffing cuts on Jul. 10 — they said the reduction in staff makes it difficult to continue planned health services.  KGNS News
