COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local officials announced the 12th annual Back-to-School Fair—organizers said more details on the schedule and venue will be shared soon.  KGNS News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A car crash on Loop 20 at Clark Blvd on Monday, July 14 at 7 a.m. caused delays on the northbound lane as Laredo police assisted those involved—directing traffic and urging drivers to use caution.  KGNS News

CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies stopped a truck for a traffic violation at 4th and 7th Street along Medina Avenue in Zapata early Friday morning and discovered nearly 7 grams of cocaine in three clear plastic baggies during a K-9 inspection, leading to the arrest of driver Larry James Boatright who was taken to jail.  KGNS News
  • Laredo Police provided details on a West Laredo stabbing that occurred last night—authorities say the victim is hospitalized and the investigation is ongoing.  KGNS News
  • A routine traffic stop near (13th Street and Medina Avenue) in Zapata led deputies to arrest Anna Lisa Alaniz after a vehicle search revealed suspected drugs and cash, and Juan Manuel Gutierrez, who was found with a THC smoking device (both individuals are now in custody as the investigation continues).  KGNS News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On July 14th, UISD held sessions where staff received legislative updates and leadership workshops—designed to guide them through expected policy changes. The training was part of the district's plan to prepare staff for upcoming legislative challenges.  KGNS News
  • United ISD is hosting its inaugural Kindergarten Signing Day at SAC Auditorium on July 17—families must register today to secure their spot and follow guest and backpack rules, while students receive a school photo and clear backpack if supplies last.  KGNS News

SPORTS NEWS

  • City Manager Joe Neeb said the multi-million dollar Buena Vista Sports Complex, set to host events like the PONY League World Series, is delayed due to weather and pending parking lot work. Officials expect one playing field may open in August—but the entire complex will open in October.  KGNS News
