IBC Bank is hosting its inaugural Women’s Forum to spotlight Laredo women entrepreneurs; the event will bring together local business leaders + offer networking opportunities for growth.

Today, the Laredo Chamber of Commerce Foundation is hosting the inaugural IBC Bank Women’s Forum to honor three local women entrepreneurs by awarding the Women in Business Empowerment Grant, and keynote speaker Stephanie Kendrick, the first woman president at La Quinta by Wyndham, will share her path to leadership.

Laredo Public Libraries host free family-friendly magic and balloon shows with the Magical Balloon Guy performing Thursday and Friday — interactive events featuring magic tricks, balloon art and comedy for all ages.

TAMIU got a $364,067 grant from THECB via the Nursing Shortage Reduction Program (NSRP) to launch its C.A.R.E.S.

Initiative, which will improve clinical training and student retention. The program will add a peer mentorship part for first-semester nursing students in Fall.

Some Northside residents had water restored on Thursday morning, but two areas (Water and Evans streets and the 8700 block of Augusta Loop) remained without water; city crews were working all day Thursday to restore service.

7 to Sunday, Aug. 9 in observance of National Garage Sale Day, letting residents host sales anywhere in the city free of charge + follow local sign rules and properly dispose of unsold items.
