  • Community members from Laredo HOPE Center are repairing the home of Frida Castillo, who was killed in a shooting on March 15 that injured her family — volunteers are seeking donations like wood, windows and vinyl flooring to complete the repairs.  KGNS News

  • On July 31 at 3:54 p.m. CDT, Border Patrol arrested a repeat offender near Laredo.  KGNS News
  • 30-year-old Adrian Aguirre was arrested on July 31 at 1:07 a.m. after a domestic disturbance call in North Laredo—he resisted arrest, spat on an officer and now faces multiple charges after a prior arrest in May for crashing his car.  KGNS News

  • City officials declared August Overdose Awareness Month on July 31 to focus on preventing drug overdoses—local outreach and support programs will provide essential resources throughout the month.  KGNS News
  • On July 31st, 2025, a Laredo attorney clarified green card laws and expectations during an informational session for local residents. He explained the legal requirements that green card holders must follow to maintain their status—residents are encouraged to seek updated legal guidance.  KGNS News
  • Webb County officials approved the sale of fireworks for additional holidays on July 28 in a commissioners’ court meeting—allowing sales before Cinco de Mayo, Texas Independence Day, San Jacinto Day and Diwali.   • Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño declared August as Overdose Awareness Month during a ceremony at the Laredo Fire Department on July 31 — with local nonprofit Myke’s Purpose present — to honor overdose victims and highlight the dangers of drug use. Community members are encouraged to wear purple, and a free 5K run plus health fair will kick off at North Central Park on August 2 at 8 a.m.  KGNS News
