- ➤ Laredo families enjoyed a day out (Aug. 3) before students returned to school after summer break. KGNS News
- ➤ Families enjoyed an End of Summer Family Day at Jovita Idar Park this past weekend as kids and parents rode bikes, paddleboats — and fished using a catch and release method before school resumed. Some students said they felt sad to see summer end but looked forward to returning to class. KGNS News

- ➤ On August 3, the Suicide Prevention Committee announced plans to expand its community outreach in Laredo—partnering with local organizations to enhance mental health support for vulnerable residents. The planned initiatives will launch soon and aim to reach those in need. KGNS News
- ➤ Laredo Police Sgt. Heriberto Avalos led the monthly Suicide Prevention Committee Meeting—reporting one suicide in July involving a National Guard member and several attempts by young people. The committee will increase outreach by using social media and yard signs to promote mental health resources and the 988 hotline, which has already answered 439 calls this year. KGNS News
