CRIME NEWS

  • Laredo police are asking the community for help finding a suspect in a theft case on August 6th - they urge anyone with information to come forward.  KGNS News
  • Webb County Constables arrested two people during separate traffic stops on Aug. 6, 2025 — officials have not yet disclosed the charges.  KGNS News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Diocese of Laredo is set to mark its 25th anniversary with a commemorative Mass at 10 a.m. at Sames Auto Arena on Saturday, Aug. 9, expecting about 9,000 attendees + volunteer support for a safely distributed Eucharist. Father Joe Cadena said the celebration follows a year of events including youth gatherings and Eucharistic processions in Laredo and Eagle Pass, and a special pre-service show will begin at 9 a.m. on air + online.  KGNS News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • LISD Interim Superintendent announced on Aug. 6 that teachers received three mental health days — a move to support their well-being — as part of new district policies.  KGNS News
  • A Laredo middle school administrator received a statewide honor on Aug. 6 for outstanding service in education. State officials presented the award — recognizing their leadership and dedication to the school.  KGNS News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Webb County officials said the new Sheriff's Office administrative building on Farragut Street is expected to open by October after years of planning, funding hurdles, and construction delays. The county spent over $10 million on renovations plus $1 million for the Emergency Operations Center as repairs addressed issues like roof leaks and delayed equipment.  KGNS News
