🚨 Crime
The Webb County Sheriff’s Office found no evidence of animal cruelty at Freedom Ranch Animal Rescue after a call on August 7 and an inspection on August 10 — officials confirmed the animals had proper food, water, shelter and care while the investigation remains open.
On August 11, Laredo Border Patrol captured fugitives in Arlington — official sources confirmed the operation.
Laredo police arrested 36-year-old Brian Silva at a fast-food restaurant in the Heights on Sunday, August 10 at 1:42 a.m.—after he acted aggressively, resisted arrest, injured an officer, and tried to remove the officer’s service weapon, Silva now faces multiple charges.
An off-duty Laredo officer is in critical condition after he shot himself & local authorities are investigating the incident.
At a Laredo port of entry on Saturday, August 9, CBP officers seized over $400K in meth from a U.S. citizen driving a 2011 Ford van during a referral to secondary inspection at the Colombia Solidarity Bridge—Homeland Security Investigations later arrested the driver and is investigating the seizure.

Laredo College and the Consulate General of Mexico in Laredo have partnered to award $29K in scholarships through the IME Becas Program to help students of Mexican origin access education at all levels today — the initiative has been expanding since 2015.
