- ➤ Texas A&M International University’s Small Business Development Center will offer an in-person QuickBooks Online course on Oct. 3 (9 a.m.–1 p.m.) to help small business owners learn to manage finances, record sales, and track expenses. - ➤ After the Texas House approved a new congressional redistricting map that redefines District 28 to include Webb and Zapata counties and parts of other regions, lawmakers have spoken out about its impact. Senator Cruz supported the changes as good for Texas—while some local officials warned that the new boundaries may reduce minority influence and fairness in future elections. KGNS News
- ➤ On August 14th, Laredo’s Historic District Landmark Board approved repair plans for lots one, nine, and ten at 409 San Bernardo Ave—renovations will restore facades by reopening boarded windows and doors and rebuilding porches and walkways to preserve the structure’s historic value. KGNS News
- ➤ The City of Laredo warned residents that fake emails claiming to be from the Planning Department are circulating to trick people into making payments with false invoices—official payments are only accepted through the City’s Click2Gov portal or in person at authorized offices—and urged residents to check sender addresses and call the Planning and Zoning Department at 956-794-1613 if they suspect fraud.
