  • Laredo Fire Department will host its first Coffee with a Firefighter event at Starbucks on Saunders Street today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. + the event will offer pan dulce and include Sparky the dog as visitors chat with local firefighters.  KGNS News
  • The Laredo Chamber of Commerce is hosting its monthly Coffee with the Chairwoman event on Tuesday, August 26 at 8:30 a.m. at Mile One International Business Assistance Center. Developer Cliffe Killam will share his ideas on downtown revitalization + local residents can join in person or watch the live stream.  KGNS News

  • Laredo business owners met at a Laredo Public Health Department workshop to learn about new restaurant rules under Senate Bill 1008, which may raise permit fees for eateries based on annual food sales—three tiers determine the fee levels.  KGNS News

  • A man wanted for capital murder in San Antonio was found in Laredo on Aug.22, 2025—he was taken into custody by local authorities.  KGNS News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Parents of Garcia Early College High School students received an email on August 22 that warned of a threat when two students reportedly shared ideas of harming others—Laredo ISD police are investigating the matter under district rules.  KGNS News
  • Texas A&M International University will host its ‘Clear the Dust’ event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help students clear holds, register for classes, and sort financial aid questions—fall classes begin on August 25 with registration closing on August 29.  KGNS News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Laredo business owners expressed concerns about the new food permit law that will change health permit requirements and could raise costs for local eateries—many plan to share their feedback with city officials before the law fully takes effect. The local business community remains vigilant as officials review the law.  KGNS News
