  • Yesterday, Laredo police honored K-9 officers on National Dog Day during a ceremony that recognized the dogs' role in supporting law enforcement efforts in our community.  KGNS News
  • Cliffe Killam, President of Killam Development, spoke on Tuesday at the Laredo Chamber of Commerce meeting about his plan to revitalize downtown Laredo—he said his long-term vision will support local businesses, arts, culinary spots and address issues like homelessness and crime. He aims to create a welcoming area for Laredoans while paving the way for ongoing improvements downtown.  KGNS News
  • KGNS+ honored a four-year-old child advocate from Casa Voz de Niños program on August 26 — the award recognized the young advocate's contributions to helping others.  KGNS News

  • A man was arrested on Aug. 26 after a short foot chase with Webb constables — police said he was taken into custody quickly.  KGNS News
  • The suspect in a fatal hit-and-run incident in downtown Laredo surrendered on August 26th—police reported he was taken into custody after reviewing evidence.  KGNS News
  • Laredo CBP officers apprehended 25-year-old Hugo Francisco Garza Munoz on August 26 at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge—he was a passenger on a commercial bus and biometric checks during a secondary inspection revealed an outstanding warrant from Tarrant County for an alleged homicide—and authorities are processing his case.  KGNS News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Laredo College hosted the Laredo Area Community Foundation’s annual Scholarship Despedida—15 high school seniors from Webb, Zapata and La Salle counties were awarded over $500K to support their college journeys, with plans to attend local schools and universities across the country. The event held at Ft. McIntosh Campus celebrated the students' academic achievements and the community's commitment to education.  LaredoBuzz
  • Laredo College is inviting community members to enroll in continuing education programs, including a new hospitality certificate program for hotel management and food and beverage—applications for the Fall term are now open.  KGNS News
