ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two vehicles crashed at the corner of Chihuahua and Malinche streets Friday afternoon causing traffic delays, with both front ends damaged and no injuries reported—Laredo Police are investigating the cause.  KGNS News

CRIME NEWS

  • Border Patrol and DPS stopped a human smuggling attempt near the Webb-Zapata County line on August 29th—officials say swift action prevented further danger.  KGNS News
  • U.S. Border Patrol and Texas Department of Public Safety stopped a human smuggling attempt near the Webb-Zapata county line—arresting the driver and undocumented individuals from a gray Cadillac after they fled on foot.  KGNS News
  • The Webb County DA office executed an arrest warrant against Bernadette Mays for 31 counts of animal cruelty after an investigation uncovered neglected and dehydrated dogs at Freedom Ranch Animal Rescue—proof that the animals were not cared for.  KGNS News
  • The Webb County District Attorney’s Office held a press conference Friday morning, August 29, about the Freedom Ranch Animal Rescue investigation after the sheriff’s office found no evidence of animal cruelty—authorities noted the facility provided proper care for animals—and no further action was announced.  KGNS News

  • The City of Laredo will hold a public hearing on the proposed $1.1 billion budget on September 2 at 5:30 p.m. at City Council Chambers — 1110 Houston Steet, where residents can ask questions and share concerns.  KGNS News

HEALTH NEWS

  • City officials declared September as Suicide Awareness Month during a packed session at City Hall this morning—15 people in Laredo have taken their lives this year. They will host a 5K Run/Walk on September 6 at North Central Park and urge residents to call 988 if they face mental health crises.  KGNS News
