- ➤ Laredo Police arrested Veronica Cervantes on four counts of cruelty to non-livestock animals after officers responded to an animal case call on September 6 at 1:33 p.m.—they discovered malnourished puppies and a bleeding German Shepherd mix at a residence on the 9900 block of Immaculada Lane. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ United ISD announced on September 8 that it is expanding mental health support for students at its schools. The district said the new resources will help more students get counseling and support soon. KGNS News

- ➤ City leaders have approved a plan to invest over $471,000 in renovations for an LPD fitness center at headquarters — the upgrades will include new exercise machines, weights, and nutrition plans scheduled to roll out over the next few years.
