🎭 Culture
Fiestas Patrias returns for its fifth year on Saturday, Sept.
12 at 3301 San Bernardo. The free event will feature music, dancing, food including ramen bowls and competitions for grito and best Cinco de Mayo outfit (for all ages) as it celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month.
The Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association named former state Rep. Tracy O.
King as Mr. South Texas 2027 to honor his nearly 30 years' service to the area (including efforts on water, agriculture, and health). He will attend the abrazo ceremony, parade, and luncheon on Feb. 20.
🏛️ Government
On Friday, Sept. 4, Congressman Henry Cuellar announced $310,799 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Laredo’s Ryan White Part C Program while addressing Medicaid cuts affecting Texas hospitals at a local press conference.
