- ➤ The Women’s City Club has launched the Pennies for Tennies campaign inviting Laredo schools to collect pennies from September 11 to December 1—club members will also host a bucket brigade at the Del Mar and Springfield intersection on October 25 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. KGNS News

- ➤ The Art Museum of South Texas celebrates Latino voices and community with exhibits and programs that highlight local artists and cultural stories—uniting residents in a shared cultural experience. KGNS News

- ➤ UISD announced on September 17 a new plan to boost student attendance in local schools. The initiative will use cost-effective strategies to reduce absences as district officials work to improve participation. KGNS News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Webb County officials are waiting for approval to have the area designated as flood-prone—local agencies say the move will guide plans to reduce future flooding risks. KGNS News

- ➤ Laredo City Council announced it will add the Texas flag and the Rio Grande flag to the council chambers; installation will start soon. KGNS News
- ➤ A Border Patrol agent saved a choking toddler at Laredo’s South Station on Sept. 16 by quickly calling emergency services and performing CPR and airway-unblocking techniques—helping the child breathe independently before transporting them to a local hospital for observation. KGNS News
- ➤ Today at 10 a.m., the City of Laredo will conduct a full-length emergency drill at the Laredo Airport — coordinated with local and federal law enforcement, fire/EMS, and airline partners — while airport operations remain open with no delays. KGNS News
