- ➤ KGNS+ honored 15-year-old Alejandra Gonzalez for organizing a donation drive that gathered 600 items, including water, canned food and toiletries, to help flood victims in Kerrville; she will host more events in Laredo to support those in need. KGNS News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ United ISD and the Texas School Safety Center launched a new anti-threat campaign called “Threats Are No Joke” on Tuesday, September 23rd in Laredo. The campaign reminds students to choose their words carefully — a threat record may affect their college admission and job opportunities. KGNS News
- ➤ UISD announced a new plan on Sept. 23 to stop school threats and keep students safe—officials said more details will come soon. KGNS News
- ➤ United ISD launched its new Give Me 5 campaign to promote strong attendance at Zaffirini Elementary and Gonzalez Middle School — the district aims to achieve a 95% daily attendance goal as families are urged to keep routines and schedule appointments outside school hours. KGNS News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Laredo Police Department held a National Night Out press conference at Sames Auto Arena Tuesday morning to preview the event scheduled for October 7 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.—law enforcement and local vendors will set up booths for community engagement. KGNS News

- ➤ Gateway Community Health Center will open its new mammography machine today at 11 a.m. at its Central Clinic on 1515 Pappas St — the event aims to improve early breast cancer screening for women in medically underserved South Texas. KGNS News
