- ➤ The National Night Out event will feature a free live concert to boost community safety and engagement+ local officials are preparing for the event to welcome residents. KGNS News
- ➤ Laredo will host the third annual Día de los Muertos 5K Glow Run & Catrina Contest on November 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at North Central Park—families can join a race, enjoy live performances and food vendors, and register on-site from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. LaredoBuzz

- ➤ On October 2, United Independent School District held its annual Dyslexia Proclamation ceremony to raise awareness for early dyslexia identification and support for students. - ➤ Congressman Henry Cuellar will host a roundtable discussion at 10:30 a.m. today at Laredo City Hall to address the government shutdown that may double health insurance premiums and affect local families, veterans, federal employees, farmers and small businesses — he will also listen to local community partners and discuss steps for a short-term spending bill. - ➤ TxDOT announced that I-35 Northbound San Isidro exit ramp #5 will be closed today at 9 p.m.—the ramp will remain closed for four months for concrete pavement reconstruction, and drivers are advised to use exit ramp 8B at the I-35/I-69W interchange in Milo. KGNS News
- ➤ Laredo City Council meets today at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall to discuss limiting illuminated signage in historic districts, forming a secondary water task force, and hiring professional feral hog trappers — actions that aim to preserve the city's historic character and address local safety concerns.
