- ➤ Laredo will host the third annual Día de los Muertos 5K Glow Run & Catrina Contest on November 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at North Central Park—families can join a race, enjoy live performances and food vendors, and register on-site from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. LaredoBuzz

- ➤ On October 2, United Independent School District held its annual Dyslexia Proclamation ceremony to raise awareness for early dyslexia identification and support for students. Ernesto Gonzalez delivered the proclamation and teachers along with community leaders were honored for their work—Veterans Memorial Elementary students also gave a special presentation. KGNS News

- ➤ Congressman Henry Cuellar will host a roundtable discussion at 10:30 a.m. today at Laredo City Hall to address the government shutdown that may double health insurance premiums and affect local families, veterans, federal employees, farmers and small businesses — he will also listen to local community partners and discuss steps for a short-term spending bill. - ➤ TxDOT announced that I-35 Northbound San Isidro exit ramp #5 will be closed today at 9 p.m.—the ramp will remain closed for four months for concrete pavement reconstruction, and drivers are advised to use exit ramp 8B at the I-35/I-69W interchange in Milo. KGNS News
- ➤ Laredo City Council meets today at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall to discuss limiting illuminated signage in historic districts, forming a secondary water task force, and hiring professional feral hog trappers — actions that aim to preserve the city's historic character and address local safety concerns.
