CULTURE NEWS

  • Texas A&M International University will host Shakespeare Mini Fest with live performances and a film screening—events include a performance of Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits on Nov. 10, Julius Caesar on Nov. 11, and a Romeo + Juliet screening with a lecture on Nov. 14, all free and open to the public. The events are produced by TAMIU’s College of Arts and Sciences with support from La Posada Hotel.  Texas A&M International University

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Oct. 23rd, Molina Elm School recognized a teacher as Teacher of the Month (10:05 a.m. CDT), honoring their classroom impact and dedication.  KGNS News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officer Jennie Goodman was named Champion of Justice for her dedication to protecting and inspiring the community at a recent ceremony. The honor acknowledges her commitment to public safety in Laredo.  KGNS News
  • Officials are grappling with delays and budget issues as restoration work continues at the Plaza Theatre—funds set aside nearly five years ago are still insufficient for a completed design and necessary repairs. Councilmembers have expressed concern about the prolonged timeline and raised ideas for a new civic center to better serve the community.  KGNS News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Laredo Public Health Department partnered with TAMIU to host a free job fair that highlighted public health careers in mental and environmental health. Jaime Perez said the event offered panel sessions and resume-building workshops + networking opportunities to help participants explore career paths.  KGNS News

  • The annual Run George Run 5K will return to LMC — an event that brings local runners and community members together as organizers finalize registration and route details.  KGNS News
