- ➤ Laredo is launching a city-wide effort called 'Feed the Need' to support local families affected by the federal shutdown. Residents may drop off non-perishable food and pet food donations this Saturday from 10 a.m.—2 p.m. at the Laredo fire administration center on Del Mar to help supply the South Texas Food Bank and Laredo Regional Food Bank. - ➤ The Laredo Police Department has issued Halloween safety tips urging residents to wear bright, flame-retardant costumes, use flashlights on sidewalks, and plan trick-or-treat routes with an adult. Officers advise parents to inspect treats and remind drivers to slow down—steps meant to help everyone enjoy a safe night. KGNS News

- ➤ The Catrina Festival will return for its 11th edition on Nov. 1 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Pan American Courts, where organizers Sandra Rocha-Taylor and Brenda Muniz said a new 10-minute memorial walk will let participants honor loved ones—live music, colorful costumes and a Best Dressed contest will add to the celebration. - ➤ TAMIU's Texas Center has released a report that shows 9.9 million jobs in the United States, Mexico, and Canada may face risk from trade problems. The report found that 805,000 Texas jobs and many in other regions are at risk in manufacturing — prompting calls for targeted support for workers. Texas A&M International University

- ➤ Dr. Marivic Torregosa from TAMIU was awarded the Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Red Ribbon Memorial Award for her work in preventing drug misuse among students — the Webb County Community Coalition honored her for expanding on-campus prevention services. - ➤ Webb County officials are helping residents in Rio Bravo and El Cenizo as a boil water notice remains due to high turbidity levels; drinkable water has been distributed daily starting at 8 a.m. and samples were taken Thursday — officials expect the TCEQ to lift the advisory soon. KGNS News
- ➤ Veterans Day events will happen in Laredo as local groups plan simple ways to honor veterans—Immaculate Cut Barber Institute will give free haircuts on Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at 5517 McPherson Road with barbers, stylists, and students donating their time. Other events include a parade on Nov. 11 at 10 a.m., food help and a job fair on Nov. 13, plus a free breakfast on Nov. 14—veterans must bring proper ID to attend. KGNS News
