🎭 Culture
Families in Laredo enjoyed the Dia de los Muertos 5K on November 2 as live mariachi music and folklorico dancing showcased local traditions—drawing participants to a festive celebration.
Laredo College will present its musical production WORKING at Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Theater on the weekends of Nov.
8 and Nov. 15 to honor local hardworking people. Admission costs $10 for the public and is free for LC staff and students with valid ID—Saturday shows start at 7 p.m. and Sunday shows at 3 p.m., and audience discretion is advised for strong language.
🎓 Education
Three students from the Laredo Independent School District — Carlos Raul Lopez of Cigarroa, Brenda Alvarez of Nixon, and Osvaldo Arriaga of Martin — received JROTC achievement certificates after excelling in training and academic courses at a ceremony attended by family and friends.
Three LISD students received JROTC achievement awards yesterday—district officials said the honors recognize the students' leadership and academic commitment.
LISD will hold community sessions on Wednesday, November 5 at the Performing Arts Complex to gather input for its search for a new superintendent + school personnel are helping shape a leadership profile for the position.
Session times are set at 1:30 p.m. for campus principals, 3 p.m. for cabinet and central office employees, 5:15 p.m. for faculty and staff, and 6:45 p.m. for the public + parents and community members are encouraged to attend.
