  • Organizers announced the 9th Annual Tree Lighting event in Laredo, inviting community members to kick off the holiday season—officials did not provide additional details on the date and time.  KGNS News
  • The Outlet Shoppes will host its 9th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, November 14 at 6 p.m. in Laredo—festive music, giveaways and a North Pole visitor arriving before 6:30 p.m. will kick off a magical holiday season with a guaranteed snowfall.  KGNS News
  • American Legion Post 59 is hosting the Veterans Day Parade today from 10 to 11 a.m. — the event will start at St. Peter’s the Apostle Catholic Church and end at San Agustin Plaza as local leaders deliver remarks while KGNS streams the celebration live.  KGNS News
  • The South Texas Food Bank is asking for donations of nonperishable food items and frozen fruit to help local residents waiting for their SNAP benefits amid delays. Congressman Henry Cuellar stated that if a continuing resolution passes, full SNAP benefits will be paid for November — extending government funding through January 30.  KGNS News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Workforce Solutions will host the 14th annual Hiring Red, White and You! Job Fair in Laredo on Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A special one-hour session will honor veterans and their families from 10 to 11 a.m. in recognition of Veterans Day.  KGNS News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M International University is hosting a School Districts Career Fair on November 13 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom—local school districts will offer jobs in teaching, business, and IT, and attendees should bring updated resumes.  KGNS News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Laredo Public Health Department announced a program offering free vasectomy services to eligible men for Men’s Health Awareness Month—eligible patients must complete a lipid panel and only the first 30 will receive the procedure at no cost while later patients will be charged $560.  KGNS News
