Parade Chair Jesse Gonzalez explained on a local morning show that applications for the WBCA parades are open — the IBC Bank Youth Parade Under the Stars will be held on February 19, 2026 with applications due on December 4, 2025, and the Budweiser WBCA Parade will take place on February 21, 2026.

Bethany House will hold its 20th annual Mission Give event on November 22 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.—a drive-through donation event at Sames Auto Group on I-35 that collects clothing, household items and linens to help the unhoused and families in transitional housing.

Volunteers will be available to unload donations and provide tax-exempt forms at the site.

Today, the 1848 Event Center broke ground on a nearly $6M renovation project aimed at upgrading its fairgrounds, bathrooms and restaurant pavilion—Hank Suarez noted that his restaurant has seen more customers—and county officials said the project will improve the venue for future events.

The Laredo mobile consulate will be in Zapata tomorrow at the Technology and Advanced Education Center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering passport, birth certificate and other services while requiring citizens to bring the proper documents—requirements vary with the service.

City officials say AT and T is experiencing an outage that has disrupted 3-1-1 lines and police systems—officials are working with company representatives to restore the service—with no time given for a fix.
