Earlier today in downtown Laredo, Livi’s Mexicue and local businesses served hot Thanksgiving meals while aiming to distribute 1,200 plates this season—up from 300 plates the first year and 600 last year—and introduced a donation corner for clothing, shoes and blankets.

On Thanksgiving, Livi’s Mexicue gave back to the community by offering support to local neighbors.

The restaurant said its initiative helped residents during the holiday.

On Thanksgiving morning, more than 1,700 Laredo residents joined the 18th annual Turkey Trot, raising money to support local families through the LIFE Organization — a nonprofit that helps children during the holiday.

On November 27, 2025, the Salvation Army in Laredo served Thanksgiving meals to local families and is now promoting Christmas assistance programs to support those in need.

The agency plans to extend its help through upcoming initiatives as winter approaches.

After turkey dinner, the Laredo Police Department issued safety tips for Black Friday shoppers advising them to lock their cars, remove valuables from view, and avoid drinking and driving — citizens are told to report any suspicious activity.

Laredo’s Fine Arts and Culture Commission is questioning what counts as a political mural after city officials removed a street mural that said 'Defund the Wall' by Gov. Greg Abbott’s order.

The group may consult an attorney and plans a contest for local artists to paint water towers—adding new art to the city.
