Today the Salvation Army asks Laredo residents to adopt an angel at Walmart by taking a paper angel tag until Dec.

12—gift donations may be returned at Walmart or dropped off at the Salvation Army office. The agency will distribute the presents on Dec. 18 and Dec. 19 to ensure every child and senior gets a Christmas gift.

Laredo shoppers continued to shop in person for Black Friday deals despite a rise in online discounts—early Friday saw long lines form at a center on Loop 20 and Clark Boulevard before the crowd thinned later.

This trend shows many still value the in-store tradition during the holiday season.

Black Friday shoppers lined up outside the Outlet Shoppes of Laredo at 6 a.m. on November 28 to grab discount coupons for holiday and birthday gifts — many carried several bags and visited multiple stores.

Some visitors noted that the I-94 permit cost increased from $6 to $30 — a change that did not stop many from hunting for deals.

Laredo’s annual Business Expo begins today at 11:00 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Sames Auto Arena (free admission for all) and continues Sunday with local companies offering special discounts, coupons, and on-site services.

Government officials in Nuevo Laredo launched the Heroes Paisanos program to welcome paisanos during the holiday season + the initiative will check that over 150,000 travelers have proper paperwork as they cross the border, marking its third year.
