- ➤ TAMIU will host its second annual Mob Fest on Friday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. at the soccer field—a free outdoor vendor market, fun activity stations, free food including raspas and cupcakes from Pink Box Pastry Shoppe, and T-shirts for the first 300 guests will be available before the men’s soccer game starts at 7 p.m. KGNS News

CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Laredo Police arrested Veronica Cervantes on four counts of cruelty to non-livestock animals after officers responded to an animal case call on September 6 at 1:33 p.m.—they discovered malnourished puppies and a bleeding German Shepherd mix at a residence on the 9900 block of Immaculada Lane. - ➤ LISD said police are investigating an incident at Ryan Elementary on September 5 after an individual allegedly brought an illegal substance to the campus—details remain limited as the investigation continues. KGNS News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ United ISD announced on September 8 that it is expanding mental health support for students at its schools. The district said the new resources will help more students get counseling and support soon. KGNS News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City leaders have approved a plan to invest over $471,000 in renovations for an LPD fitness center at headquarters — the upgrades will include new exercise machines, weights, and nutrition plans scheduled to roll out over the next few years. - ➤ Rep. Cuellar spoke on September 8th about a plan to create a drone task force designed to improve border security—he said the measure will add new technology to help monitor the border. The plan is expected to boost surveillance and support overall security efforts. KGNS News
- ➤ Webb County commissioners approved the 2025-26 budget on September 8—lowering the property tax rate by a quarter cent compared to last year while warning that rising property valuations could still raise bills for some.
